Fiji: Lands Ministry donates to PM's relief account

Staff of the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources donated a cheque of $1931 to the Prime Minister’s flood appeal account this morning.

Ministry of Lands acting permanent secretary Tevita Boseiwaqa said tthe donation by the staff was in addition to the assistance they rendered to the Commissioner Western’s office during the floods.

“Today’s donation is also part of our social obligation and support to the Prime Minister’s flood appeal,” Mr Boseiwaqa said.

Receiving the donation, the Prime Minister’s Office permanent secretary Pio Tikoduadua expressed PM Bainimarama’s appreciation and said the donation would surely be of benefit to the flood victims.

“On behalf of the Prime Minister, please convey to the staff of the Ministry of Lands his appreciation, we know that times are hard and your staff have worked hard in trying to make better conditions for those that have suffered as a consequence of the recent floods,” Mr Tikoduadua said.

“Your demonstration to show your love and concern for the people affected by the floods in the Western Division is acknowledged with deep appreciation.”

Also present at the handing over were the Department of Mineral Resources director, Malakai Finau and staff of the department.
